Level Editor Upper Right Menu

In the upper right menu there are five options. Hovering the mouse over each graphic will pop up a window telling you what each option is.

New creates a new level for you. You will be asked whether or not you wish to save. There are several ways to encounter this situation, so there is a page describing what to do.

Open will pop up a menu of levels that you have previously saved. If you have made edits to your current level, and you have not saved it, you will be asked if you wish to save. If you have so many levels that there is no room to display them all on the screen, you can navigate through the menu by clicking the down arrow and up arrow at the bottom and top of the menu.

Save will save your level. If you have not named your level or given it a file name, you will be prompted to do so now. The first window that pops up will say "Name for this level." This is what you want the level to be named, and is the name players will see in the status bar as they play your level. If you want to name your level "Lots of Gems", you would simply type "Lots of Gems" in this window. After you enter your desired level name and press 'enter', another window will pop up saying "Level file name (.lv)". This is where you name what the file will be called. This is less formal, since this name will not be displayed while playing the game. For the level "Lots of Gems", you would want to type "LotsOfGems" in this window. The file LotsOfGems.lv will then be stored in 'C:/Program Files/Core Concepts/Rich Diamond/Levels'.

Play allows you to test your creation at any point while you are designing it. You can also play your level by typing 'p' while you are in level edit mode. When you select play, and you haven't saved your level, you will be asked whether or not you wish to save.

While playing your level, the controls for moving Rich around and doing everything else are the same as when you play the regular game. If you die or solve the level, you will be returned to the level editor. Also, typing 'q', 'esc', or clicking the stop sign in the lower right corner will bring you back to the level editor. Typing 's' saves the game in the first save slot, and 'r' replays the save that is furthest down in the list, or the solution, if the level has one. Typing 'r' while in level edit mode will have the same effect. 'Shift-s' brings up a menu of ten save slots, allowing you to pick which slot you wish to save your game in. 'Shift-r' brings up the menu of ten save slots, allowing you to pick which slot you wish to replay. When you solve your level, and you have a score that is higher than any previous score, that solution will now be saved as the solution for the level. Typing 'r' will now replay your solution, and you can now access your solution from the save menu by typing 'Shift-r'.

Exit is the final button in the upper right menu. Clicking this will bring you back to the Rich Diamond main menu. Again, if you have edited your level since the last time you saved it, you will be asked if you wish to save your work.
