Being Prompted to Save
You will be prompted to save your level when you try to open another level, create a new level, play your level,
or exit the level editor, and you have not yet saved the level you are working on. The following explains what
your options are in this situation.
If the window "Did your edits invalidate the solution?" pops up, see the section on saving your solution first.
If not, just read the section on saving your level.
Saving your solution. If the currently opened level already has a solution saved for it,
a window will pop up asking if your changes invalidated the solution. Clicking
'yes' will delete your current solution for the level. This is a helpful feature. For example, if you had a level
that was three rooms big, and you solved the level with a score of 8,900 points, that will be your solution for the
level until you get a better score. Now, if you decide to edit the level to make it a bit longer, but with the
new edit it is only possible to score 7,500 points, the solution of 8,900 will still be the solution for your level,
since it's the higher score. Therefore, if you need to erase your old solution to take care of this problem, simply
change something in the level, like adding a wall, and don't save it, and click 'play'. Now you can erase your
old solution and record your new one!
A good way to make sure everything is running with your level is, when you are done,
really quickly run the solution to make sure that your currently saved solution works. While in the level editor,
type 'r' and see if Rich collects all the gems and makes it to the exit! If he doesn't, that means your level
needs a fixed solution. If he does, then you're all done! However, it is important make sure you want to delete your solution before
you click 'yes', because once you delete it, the only way to get it back is by solving the level again. Note that selecting
'yes' will not delete any of the saves in your menu of ten game saves. Sometimes it is a good idea to keep one of your
save slots as a save right before you solve the level, just in case you accidentally overwrite the correct solution.
Selecting 'no' will keep the previous solution saved, and 'cancel' will return you to your current level, also
keeping the previous solution intact.
Saving your level. If you have never saved your current level file before, and you select 'yes', you will be asked to name your level
and give your level a file name. If you have saved this level before, selecting 'yes' will simply save over your previous
level file. Selecting 'cancel' will return you to your level, and you will not lose any of your
work, but your work will also not be saved at this point. If you select 'no', any changes made to your level since the
last time you saved it will be lost.
