Level Editor Bottom Menu

At the bottom of the page is the name of your currently selected object, the name of your level, your level's file name, and an object menu. If at any point you wish to change the name of your level, simply click your level's name while in the level editor, and type in the new name. Make sure you save your level after doing this. Also, if you wish to change the .lv file name, you can click the .lv file name and give it a new name. This will create a new file and store it in 'C:/Program Files/Core Concepts/Rich Diamond/Levels'. If you give your level a new .lv file name, and there is already another level with that .lv file name, the older level will be overwritten. Make sure that there is no level with that .lv name before you change your current level's .lv file name.

Once you have begun creating a new level, use the left mouse button to select an object from the menu along the bottom of the screen. If you hover the mouse over any of the objects, the name of that object will pop up in a small box, letting you know what it is in case it's hard to tell. You can scroll through the menu of objects using the arrows on the far left and right sides of the menu. When you select an object, the name of that object will now appear in the left menu just above the object menu. That object will remain your current object until you select a different object. Every time you left click on the grid, your current object will be placed in the square you click. You may also place several copies by dragging out an area on the map. For example, if you want a room that is an 8x8 grid, simply select the object named 'floor' from the menu, click the left mouse on the desired square in the grid, hold it down, and drag the mouse until the white outline box is an 8x8 grid. Let go of the mouse button, and you will now have an 8x8 grid of floor! To erase anything in the level, simply select the 'empty' object from the menu and left click on the object in the grid that you wish to erase.

Just below the object menu is a list of the most recently used objects. This menu is convenient if you are building a level that only has a few elements in it, and you want to keep switching between placing a few different objects. Rather than scrolling back and forth through the object menu, you can simply select the item you want from the recently used menu.

Another easy way to select objects to use is by pointing at an object already placed on the grid and clicking it with the right mouse button. If you have a level with several gems in it already, and you wish to place another gem, right click one of the gems in the level. Now you can place another gem anywhere you want!

Make sure that your level has an exit in it, otherwise you cannot solve it! You don't have to have gems, although usually the level is fairly uninteresting without them. It's important to note that Rich does not interact with an 'empty' square in any way. It is the same as a wall, not a pit, so Rich will run into it the same way he does a wall.

Remember that you are able to test your level whenever you want. It doesn't have to be finished yet, you may just want to test the first area of the level before moving on to build the second area. Make sure you save your work often, because you don't want to lose any of your creation!
