Controls
The arrows keys move Rich Diamond around the puzzle.
The 'up- arrow' moves Rich up hill, or north. The 'down-arrow' moves
Rich down hill or south. The 'left' and 'right' arrow keys move
Rich west or east.
The space key "passes" one turn, allowing
any creature to take a step while Rich stands still.
Holding down the Ctrl key while pressing an arrow
key scrolls the screen by one square in the indicated direction.
Scrolling the screen does not count as a turn.
Holding down the Shift key while pressing an arrow
key scrolls the screen by one-half the screen size, in the indicated
direction.
'q' - Exit the current level.
's' - Saves your progress on the current level.
'Shift-s' - Brings up a menu of ten separate save slots. You can save your progress
in any of the ten slots by clicking on the name of the desired slot (all slots will be named 'empty' to
begin with). Type a name for the slot, and then click 'save'. After you click 'save',
a return button will pop up at the bottom of the screen and you can click this to return to your game.
You can save over any of your previous saves in the same manner. Clicking 'discard' will erase the save in
the slot you selected. Clicking 'cancel' will bring you back to the game without saving over any of the
slots. Note that the first slot in this save menu will be overwritten any time you press 's' while
playing the game.
'r' - Replay saved state. If you have previously
saved your progress, the level will be reset to the point where
you pressed 's'. If you have not previously saved, the level will
be reset to its initial state (restarting the level).
'Shift-r' - Brings up a menu of the ten separate save slots. You will be able to choose which
save you wish to replay. Click 'replay (fast)' to play your replay quickly or click 'replay (slow)' to
play your replay slowly. Click 'cancel' to return to your game without replaying any of your saves.
'+' (or '=') - Increase the animation speed during gameplay or a replay of a save. This
does not count as a turn. Press multiple times to speed up even more.
'-' - Decrease animation speed.
F3/F4 - Pause/Unpause the background music.
F5/F6 - Decrease/Increase the sound effect volume.
You may also use the mouse to control the game. As
you move the mouse around the level, an outline box indicates the
square the pointer is over. If this square is in line with Rich
Diamond, the outline box will be yellow. If the square is diagonal
from Rich Diamond's location, the outline box will be red. When
the outline box is yellow, clicking the left mouse button will move
Rich Diamond to that square. However, if anything blocks Rich's
path, he will not reach the target square. Clicking the mouse on
Rich's current location keeps him in that spot, while any creature
on the level takes one step. The mouse may also be used to place
flags on the level. Pressing the right mouse button on any square
places or removes a flag on that square. Flags may be useful when
mapping out hidden areas on a level.
