Rich Diamond's Leader Board

We have added a Leaderboard to the Rich Diamond game. With this new feature, you can upload your scores to our website's high score list. You can also view the Leaderboard from within the program. If you have a great standing, call all of your friends and brag. If your standing is not quite where you like, replay some of your levels to improve your score, then upload again.

You can upload your scores as often as you like. The Leaderboard will keep record of your highest score for any level.

The Leaderboard is tied-in to the new Player Accounts at www.coregames.com. Before you can post your high scores, you need to download the latest version of Rich Diamond, and you need to create a Player Account at www.coregames.com. To make an account, you simple make a name and password for your account.

The first time you run the new version of Rich Diamond, you will be asked to register your game. Registering your game simply means that you tell the program your Account Name and Password, the values that you just used to make the account.

There is one new command in the Main Menu of the game: Leaderboard. This command takes you to the Leaderboard Menu. From that new menu you can upload your scores to our website, and you can view the current rankings on our site’s Leaderboard.

From the Leaderboard menu, you can upload your scores, and you can also view the current scores on our Leaderboard.

You may only upload scores after you have registered your game. When you click on ‘Upload’, you will be asked to reenter your Password. You will then be given the option of uploading the scores for your current Level Set,or uploading the scores from all of your Level Sets. Usually you will only be uploading the scores from your current level set.

After you have played a few more levels, or after you have improved your solution for a level, you can return to the Leaderboard and repost your scores. Our site will keep track of your best solution for each level.

After your scores have been uploaded, Rich Diamond may respond that you have already posted better solutions on our website. This can happen if you have installed Rich Diamond on more than one computer, or if you have lost your save-game information through reformating your computer. You are asked at this point if you would like the program to download your previous better solutions from the website. As always, the game will preserve the best solution you have found for any level.

The Leaderboard Menu also provides a way for you to view our current Leaderboard. If you click ‘View’, you will see the first page from the Leaderboard. The program downloads 100 entries at a time, even though only about 20 fit on the screen at a time. You can scroll up and down through the list of 100 by clicking the ‘more’ buttons at the top and the bottom of the list. To get to the next page of 100 entries, click on ‘Options’, then click on ‘Get Next 100’ or ‘Get Previous 100’.

There are several ways to format the information for the Leaderboard. You can change this format by clicking on the ‘Filter’ buttons.

The first choice for filtering has the options ‘Overall for all sets,’ ‘Overall for this set,’ and’Individual level scores’. Picking ‘Overall for all sets’ ranks all of the players by their total score, considering all levels they have completed for every level set they own. The ‘Overall for this set’ option only considers the levels for whatever level set you are currently playing. This list lets you see how you are doing on your current set. Finally, the ‘Individual level scores’ option prints a list of all levels in the level set, and shows you the top 5 scores for each level. From this list, if you click on a level, you will then see the list of all player scores for that one level.

The second choice for filtering has the options of showing ‘Scores’ or ‘Blues’. If you choose ‘Scores’, the program ranks all players based on their current scores for all the levels. If you pick ‘Blues’, the program ranks the players based on the number of levels that they have ‘blued’. The Rich Diamond community has adopted the phrase ‘bluing a level’ to mean that you have met or beat our score for a level. In the Level Select Map, this would appear as a blue diamond for that level. Someone who has many blue levels has done an excellent job of playing the game.

The final choice for filtering has the options of finding the ‘Top Player’ or ‘Me’. If you select ‘Top Player’, the game will start the listing with the highest-ranking player. You can then scroll down the list to see all the remaining players. If you select ‘Me’, the program will automatically scroll so that your entry is somewhere near the middle of the screen, so you can see where you are in the list. From this point you can scroll up or down the list.

We hope this new Leaderboard adds interest and excitement to your Rich Diamond experience. If you have any suggestions or comments, please let us know.
